After the Second World War, Raffaele IV, Duke of Zoagli, refused all offers from developers seeking to speculate on the property, an approach typical of the period, which often led to the destruction of the landscape. Instead, he chose to preserve, through careful restoration, a cultural and historical heritage passed down through five generations, continuing the tradition of hosting the cosmopolitan society of the time with balls, lunches, concerts, and receptions.

Building on this long-standing legacy, the younger generation, born at the end of the last century, has successfully achieved a perfect blend of classic and contemporary, meeting the modern needs of those who wish to host elegant and tasteful events. For over ten years, the Castle has made its ground floor, known as the “Garrison,” originally built in the mid-18th century for the Health Captains responsible for quarantining those fleeing from the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, available for private events.

The Garrison features traditional Genoese checkerboard floors made of Carrara marble and Ligurian slate (from Lavagna). The L-shaped halls can accommodate approximately 130 seated guests or 200 standing for buffet-style events. Between the arches of the vaulted ceilings hang 19th-century portraits of some of the first Duke’s twelve children.

Through the three French windows, during stormy days, sea spray enters like on a ship, and the most evocative soundtrack for every reception is the sound of waves breaking against the rocks.
