Historical mansion
After the war, Raffaele IV Duke of Zoagli refused all the offers received from the builders, who intended to speculate, typical attitude of those years, ending up destroying the environment. And he preferred, instead, to keep the cultural and historical heritage handed down for five generations with careful restoration, in order to entertain the exponents of cosmopolitan society with dances, lunches, concerts and parties, as tradition wanted.
Strengthened by this experience well rooted in their genes, the young people of the generation born at the end of the last century have managed to obtain an ideal fusion between the classic and the contemporary so that they can address the new needs of those who, today, want to organize elegant events. For over ten years, the Castle staff has made available to customers who wish to organize their events, the ground floor, called the “Garrison” because it was built in the mid-1700s for the Captains of Health to receive and quarantine the plague victims who fled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
The floors of the Garrison are checkerboard, composed of large squares of Carrara marble and inland slate (Lavagna) as the Genoese tradition dictates. The rooms are L-shaped and can accommodate about 130 people seated and 200 standing with a buffet. And in the middle of the arches of the ancient vaults hang the nineteenth-century portraits of some of the twelve sons of the First Duke.
From the three French windows on stormy days the splashes of the sea enter, like on a ship and the most pleasant background that accompanies each of our receptions is the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks.

Look to the east and show the coast to Punta Manara, beyond Sestri Levante.
It is covered by a white gazebo, supported by eight wrought iron columns on which jasmine and roses climb.
At night the Bay of Zoagli is emerald green because it is illuminated by the four large reflectors inserted in the arches of the Railway Bridge.
In this garden the welcome aperitif is usually hosted since most guests arrive on foot from the village. Under this gazebo, about 200 people stand, seated 150.
Up to 15 cars and 5 other parking spaces can be parked in the park if the spouses also rent the rooms.
Catering service
In order to offer seasonal ingredients from the territory, the Castle staff turns to Manuelina from Recco, leader of the Consorzio della Focaccia di Recco with cheese that has recently obtained the PGI certification at European level.
Typical dishes include:
- Corzetti on which the initials of the spouses are printed,
- Trofie with pesto,
- cappon magro,
- Savory stuffed pies,
- Fried fish served in foil.
The menu proposal includes the table center and the personalized menu. Manuelina’s catering service has exclusivity in the Canevaro Castle.
Junior Suite Portofino
For their Honeymoon, the newlyweds can stay in the Portofino Suite, and can host friends and relatives in the other two bedrooms, Glicine and Cipressi, with their bathroom and air conditioning.
